Dance Classes run from August to May
All students will be evaluated by the instructor and may be placed
in a different class level according to their ability and talent.
Class placement will have to be approved by the director.

Tap/Jazz (Int/Adv) (Ages 8-14) 6:30-7:30 pm
Int/Adv. Ballet (Ages 9-16) 7:30-8:30 pm Dancers are required to take Inter/Adv. Ballet twice a week.

Prerequisite: previous ballet training and evaluation by instructor. Dancers are required to take Inter/Adv. Ballet twice a week in addition to pointe class. Minimum eligible age: 10 yrs.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Drama: An introduction to the theatre. Students become acquainted with the history of theatre, acting, and various significant plays.
Pre-Ballet - Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.
Beginning/Intermediate Ballet/Tap - This is classical ballet, including barre, center, and stretch exercises. This class focuses on the development of elementary habits of movement coordination. Barre and center exercises are stressed with special attention to proper body alignment and use of arms and head. The foundation for basic turns and small jumps is begun.
Intermediate/Advanced Ballet - This class is designed to develop additional strength and refinement in pointe and/or one’s work for the intermediate-level student. Barre and center exercises are stressed with special attention to proper body alignment and use of legs and feet.
Pointe Class - Extensive & and structured, classical ballet training is required for several years prior. Inter/Adv Ballet classes 2x week must be maintained throughout the entire year. Extensive & structured, classical ballet training is required for several years prior.
Tap/Jazz - This combo class is designed to give a good foundation in proper jazz and tap techniques. Foundation class emphasizing proper posture, coordination, and music awareness.
Tap/Jazz (Int/Adv.)- This combo class begins with a warm-up to introduce movement and coordination to the entire body. The second half of class time is devoted to tap/jazz technique, teaching simple rhythms, dancing to the beat of the music, and staying together as a group.
Teen/Adult Ballet - This class will cover basic ballet positions, steps, and vocabulary with a focus on the student's awareness of proper posture and body alignment. Standing barre work and center floor exercises will be given to enhance coordination, strength, balance, and flexibility. The students can participate at their own level of ability! This class is good for those who wish to get in shape, just for fun, and not follow a more serious course of study.
